ABOUT WMF EMERGING ARTISTS PROGRAM

The WMF Emerging Artists Program offers opportunities for talented musicians from all over the world to showcase their artistry with appearances in the beautiful port city of Wilmington, North Carolina and to receive instruction in career development from experienced professional artists and entrepreneurs.

The Festival reaches out to artists of all nationalities and ethnicities – to composers and performers of classical, jazz, blues, country and folk music genres. Opera singers and scat crooners – country fiddlers and concert violinists – classical string quartets and bebop combos – all are welcome to make music together in a relaxing and charming setting at the mouth of the majestic and mysterious Cape Fear River.

Artists are selected by video auditions to participate in each season’s offering. A panel of distinguished judges select each year’s roster to insure that the most talented and skilled performers are provided with the career support they need and that the Wilmington public – residents and guests – are offered musical presentations of the very finest quality.

The artists chosen to perform in the Wilmington Music Festival will enjoy visiting one of the Southeast’s most beautiful resort towns. Wilmington is an historic river port established in the mid-18th Century and boasting three pristine beaches in its suburbs and a quaint riverfront downtown with a host of first-class restaurants and shops.
